HPT

6.0 Lanes and Switches:

6.1Lanes:

The Hybrid PT System requires at least one Main Grid Rail in each direction. Where necessary, multiple lanes in each direction may be constructed. Eight Grid lanes can be constructed above the same space occupied by 4 highway lanes.

6.2Grid Approach Lane:

As an Grid compliant vehicle enters the Hybrid PT System, after a series of electrical checks of mechanical and communications components has been successfully completed, a Grid vehicle will accelerate on the Grid Approach Rail at a speed calculated to safely merge with any oncoming traffic.

6.3Switches:

At the end of the Grid Approach Lane, a switch, similar in nature to a railway switch, will automatically, and almost instantaneously open, and close, to allow a Grid vehicle (or several Grid vehicles), to join the Main Grid Rail. Exiting the Grid occurs by way of the reverse procedure.
