Using electric propulsion during Grid transit with availability of a emergency gas, diesel or compressed natural gas (CNG) backup, and some operator input. A series of on-board and Grid internal computers would automatically determine a dangerous condition or collision potential and adjust the speed of a Hybrid PT vehicle to a safe velocity or bring it to a stop.
