1.1 System Name:
The Hybrid Personal Transit System (Hybrid PT) is named in honor of Jamie Alexandra, Grimsley an 18 year old student who was killed in an automobile accident on August 17, 2005. Hybrid PT was designed primarily to save lives by providing a safer surface transportation environment.
1.2. Patent Description:
On July 16th, 2008, an preliminary application was accepted by the U.S. Patent Office titled Hybrid Personal Rapid Transit (application number 61/129,754 - 071608). The application holder is, by way of assignment, Hybrid PT, Incorporated, a Virginia, USA corporation (hereafter the “Company”). The Company intends to design and build the Hybrid Personal Transit System (also “System” or “Grid”), throughout the developed world, by obtaining the air rights above current roadways, highways and other surface properties.
1.3“Clean Sheet" Design:
Hybrid PT is a completely new vision of surface transportation for the next generation of personal vehicles. The Company projects that design and initial implementation of the System will be undertaken over the next 5 years, allowing auto manufacturers to phase in System compatible features over the same time span. The Hybrid PT concept may have unusual application possibilities in developing countries.
1.4Improved Safety, Greater Speed and Zero Emissions:
The Hybrid Personal Transit System has the promise to provide increased speed of personal travel (as much as 125 MPH in the initial stage), greatly improved vehicle safety (matching airline standards), zero atmospheric emissions, and an appreciable reduction in the operating cost associated with personal surface travel. Oil based fuels would not be used for propulsion of vehicles while operating on the Hybrid Personal Transit System.
1.5Personally Owned Vehicles:
Hybrid PT is based on the premise that most users of the System will wish to purchase or lease their own Hybrid PT compliant vehicle much as they do their current personal cars. A Hybrid PT vehicle will, however, have the dual capability of accessing the Hybrid Personal Transit System as well as having access to today’s standard highway and roadway systems. A Hybrid PT vehicle would be very similar to a typical car,
SUV or van except for its unique capability to drive from any home or office to a Hybrid PT entry point and, thereafter, experience a revolutionary method of safe, high speed, transit. Technology in use today, which is clearly adaptable to the Hybrid Personal Transit System, could be tailored to the System and put to use in a matter of a few years.
